Frequently Asked Questions

text, online, mail, p.o. box...

Is online giving safe?

Yes! In many ways giving online is safer than writing a check, because an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen. Additionally, we’ve taken steps to ensure that the giving process is safe and secure from beginning to end. All of your giving data is secured by SSL encryption. SSL is an acronym for “Secure Socket Layer,” a security protocol that provides communications privacy over the Internet. It is the same technology used by banks and e-commerce companies such as Amazon.com to keep your information safe and secure during transactions. In addition, none of your payment information is stored on our website, instead it is stored at Stripe – a PCI Level 1 Service Provider which is the most stringent level of certification available in the payment industry.

I clicked the “Give Now” button and nothing happened.

When you click “Give Now,” a new browser window is opened. If you’re using a pop-up blocker, the window won’t open. Most browsers will allow you to permit pop-ups from a specific website. In order to use the give online area, you will need to allow pop-ups from pbcchurch.org.

What types of bank accounts can I give from?

You can give from your checking account via an ACH transaction. You can also give using a debit or credit card.

Can I make a one-time contribution?

Yes, the system allows you the option of either making a one-time contribution or setting up a recurring contribution.

How do I set up recurring giving?

You can set up recurring giving in the Church Center app or online. After you enter your amount and fund, select your frequency (weekly, every other week, twice monthly, monthly).

If I want to set up a recurring gift, what are my options for frequency of my gift?

You can specify whether you want your contribution made weekly, every other week, twice per month, or monthly. You can set up as many scheduled contributions as you would like to several different funds.

Can I designate my gift to a specific fund?

When you give online, you’ll see funds for Offering, Tithe, Sunday School, Missions and V.I.P. Select the fund(s) of your choice from the menu.

I received an email stating that my contribution didn’t go through. What do I do?

When transactions don’t go through, it is usually because of a typo. Try it again and double-check your routing and account numbers.

How will I know that I set up my gift correctly?

Immediately after submitting your contribution, you will receive an e-mail thanking you for your contribution.

How do I use Text-to-Give?

Text-to-Give is a simple, fast, and secure way to give, and you can text any amount to 84321. You may also give using a credit card, debit card, or bank account. The first time you use this method, you will have to select Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Will it ask me to pick my church every time I text to give?

No! Only the initial set-up requires you to do so.

Can I give to multiple things in one text?

Yes! You can text 50 tithes and 25 great faith, and you will receive a confirmation showing your donation of $50 to Tithes and $25 to Great Faith.

What if I make a mistake or need a refund when I use Text-to-Give?

No problem! You can use the words below to correct your mistake.

  1. “STOP” – This will immediately deactivate Text-to-Give for the sender. If you’d like, you can re-enroll again later.

  2. “REFUND” – Donors can issue this command within 30 minutes of donating to initiate an automatic refund. This isn’t a cancellation, it’s an actual refund.

  3. “MISTAKE” – Because ACH donations take longer (and can’t be refunded until they “settle” in the bank system), the normal “refund” keyword doesn’t work when donors use a bank account as their text-to-give payment method. Instead, they can use the MISTAKE keyword. This keyword will cancel the donation before it enters the banking system. When a donation is canceled this way, it’s like it never happened.

  4. “HELP” – This will prompt a response message back to you, the sender. If you are a Text-to-Give donor (meaning your telephone number is active in the system), then you’ll get a link to a help page specific to Pilgrim Baptist Church. This help page will show you helpful information about Text-to-Give and show the list of active funds. What is the processing fee? Credit/Debit card companies charge us a processing fee. In the past, Pilgrim has paid those fees. Now, you have the option to cover them or you can elect for us to pay them.

What if I change banks or want to adjust the date or amount of a contribution?

You can edit, delete or pause a scheduled contribution at any time including changing the bank routing number, account number, date, fund, frequency and amount.

If I give online, will I still receive a contribution statement?

Yes! The church will continue to provide year-end contribution statements to you for tax purposes. At any time, you can also view and print the complete history of your contributions that have been given.

Who do I contact if I have more questions?

If you have any giving-related questions, please email pbcchurch.org, and we will be happy to answer them.
